At the start of class...
For about the first three or four minutes of class students hit the gym running. So far, we have been learning LOTS of ways to enter the gym "on the move." This allows students to do what they want- MOVE, what classroom teachers want- get their wiggles out, and what I want- get healthy, move and have fun. We have played games like Shadows, 52 Pick Up, Partner High 5s, Cleannies & Messies, Flip/Flop exercises and more. These are quick activities that get much of our fitness work done. We will usually incorporate push-ups and sit-ups somehow.

Games/activities
We have spent a great deal of time learning classroom management skills... squads, choosing partners and transitions. These have been quick, simple games that have FORCED the issue of working together. Many of the lessons have asked students to work with different students and groups of students. Triangle Tag, Parachute Partner Basketball, Chocolate River, Trading Places, Race Cars, Frisbee Pass, Friendly Fliers, Leaning Tower of Trust, Bouncing Buddies, Noisy Buddies, When I Say, "Go!", Over & Under, One Step Back... The students also have learned a simple dance, "5,6,7,8."

Finishing UP!
Before students leave the room... I try to wrap up the class and check for understanding to see if students... "got it!" Again, I will focus on working together. Each game and activity has been selected and I really want students to "connect" to the lesson. PLEASE ask your child what they have been doing in PE...
